There’s no Denying David Bowie’s Amazing Talents prior and after him becoming the Out of this WORLD SUPERSTAR, “ZIGGY STARDUST”!! He was already a pop icon, a perfect specimen of androgynous beauty and a once in a lifetime talent that spawned decades of classic hits like, “Let’s Dance”, “China Girl”, and partnering with Queen to make “Under Pressure.” He had altered the course of Music and Art forever, but her wasn’t done yet!
He wanted to take music and art and culture and combine them with his fascination of science fiction and space travel and make a unique character and most people believe this was a creature of his own mind, drafted out of the genius that was David Bowie, but like ALL great artist, “the good ones borrow, the best ones STEAL” and Bowie in this regard, well ….we will say borrowed some of the ideas for Ziggy Stardust from an Alien Encounter with a man named Vince Taylor which would change Bowie’s world forever!!
In the Mid Sixties, Bowie met Taylor and was inspired by this gentleman who shortly thereafter had an emotional breakdown and joined a cult which was involved in contacting and communicating with Extraterrestrials through a method of communication called CE-5, which is also known as “Close Encounter 5”. This method of communication is telepathic and individuals in the cult communicated with extraterrestrials telepathically to be able to meet up in secret locations and engage and share experiences with them. To learn new information, to ascend spiritually, emotionally, telepathically, and even physically.
Bowie went to these sessions and was able to meet some of these “Alien Gods” that Taylor believed he was and was a part of. Bowie couldn’t believe that his dreams had come true! He was finally meeting with these “Alien Gods” that he had dreamed about since he was small and looking into comic books for inspiration, fascination and creativity! He was able to communicate and glean information from these individuals about love, compassion and fellowship of the human race and utilize this information and use his musical platform to bring this presence into the world!! The look, presence, and personality of these beings were all pieced and parted and and moasiacally turned into what we saw onstage and known as “Ziggy Stardust”.
It’s not too far fetched of story to think that the actual look of Ziggy could look like an alien species. Corey Goode who is a government whistle blower states that he frequently interacts with a group of extraterrestrials call the “Blue Avians” who have very similar look to Ziggy with the wavy updo hair, the birdish quality look and ad a circle on the head and you basically have Ziggy Stardust. They even have been reported to have the same streaks running across their face, just like his makeup.
So, Could Bowie have met the Avians or similar species?? It’s interesting to think about.
Bowie later stated that the personality was consuming him. That it was hard to get away from “Feeling like an Alien God” and that he needed to get back to himself and back to becoming David Bowie, but the presence of Ziggy Stardust may have been a real Possession of sorts by interacting with these alien beings. The desire to experinece humankind on a real level might have inspired the alien creatures to engage with Bowie on Stage and be part of the show. Bowie reported that his fans seemed to want to interact with Ziggy far more than his real personality and it continued to become difficult to transform back into Bowie.
Nonetheless, the story is extremely fascinating and it shows how becoming a superstar and interacting with some individuals in the Music scene can take you to places you’ve never been before and maybe might want to go to!… Then again, Bowie found it extremely difficult to get away from towards the end of Ziggy’s Reign and stated that he,” moved masses of people. I became convinced I was a messiah. Very scary. I woke up fairly quickly.” -an excerpt from Rolling Stone.
He also stated that to End this hold that “Ziggy” had on him that he would ultimate have to end him!!
“Ziggy starts to believe in all this himself and thinks himself a prophet of the future starmen. He takes himself up to the incredible spiritual heights and is kept alive by his disciples. When the infinites arrive, they take bits of Ziggy to make themselves real, because in their original state they are anti-matter and cannot exist on our world. And they tear him to pieces onstage during the song ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Suicide.’” -Rolling Stones interview
So what do you think? Do you think Ziggy was a creation from the Aliens that he met during these encounters?? or do you merely think he created Ziggy out of his encounter with Vince Taylor and he was the sole inspiration?? Either way, Bowie left an incredible impression on Music, Art, Sci Fi, and Life that will be felt for generations and it is a fascinating story for those of us interested in the Alien phenomena.
